Yes, the powerful Major General of the National Security Intelligence service Mr. Michael Gichangi has resigned. His duties were to oversee that the security of the country is not at risk to any form of attack. He had to collect intelligent reports prior anything that could happen either to the country or its citizens. His duties in the service included; Detecting and Identifying any potential threat to Kenya, Advising the President and Govt of any security threat to Kenya, Taking steps to protect the security interests of Kenya whether political, military or economic, Vetting people that may hold positions that require security clearance. During his tenure, the director played a big role by fighting terror attacks which have threatened the peace of this country. Though he hasn’t done away with it but at least he did do his best in countering the Alshabaab group. Also by trying to minimize the emergence of groupings such as the Chinkororo in Kisii , Mungiki in Central province among other illegal groupings. Though most will not agree to this but certainly you won’t expect everyone to congratulate you for what you did. Some will attempt to demoralize you but the bottom line is that you did your part. Let another person also take over from where you left and input more skills in the National Intelligence Service. The NSIS is the basis of a country’s security therefore needs to be handled and led by persons with intelligence and integrity; Kudos for the job well done. Due to the sensitivity of the docket, we do hope that our Kenyan government will be able to appoint a well and able personnel to handle the intelligence department with a lot of intelligence and dedication.
